I generally despise politics and politicians, but Governor Beshear has earned my undying respect and gratitude by expressing his favorable opinion of Obamacare in The New York Times. Kentucky is definitely a red state, and I’m very appreciative that we have a Governor who is willing to stand up for the people of the Commonwealth.
As an uninsured Kentuckian (because I’m self-employed and have a pre-existing condition), I can’t wait for October 1st. I understand that the program won’t necessarily make health insurance affordable, but it does mean that I can buy it. And that’s all I’ve been hoping for – the ability to purchase health insurance. I’ve worked since I was sixteen (Hollywood Video was my first job – tuxedo and all), and I’m not looking for a hand-out, just an opportunity to BUY health insurance.
